Dear Lord,
As I send my son off to school this morning, I THANK YOU for being with him (and all kids) today... at the bus stop, on the bus, in the hallways at school, in the classroom. I pray that you keep each every one of them safe until they can make it back home.
I pray that you will whisper in each child's ear today that they are perfect. Tell every girl out there who is questioning if she's too fat, too thin, too tall, too short that You made them perfect. Tell each boy who is questioning if they are too big, too little, too hairy, not hairy enough, too short or too... anything.. that You made them perfectly.
I pray God that every teen will have the opportunity to hear of YOUR LOVE. I pray that You put someone in their lives who will tell them that You love them.
I pray for each teens thoughts. Lord, keep them pure so that they can know the joy of their teen years and dating WITHOUT the extra emotional baggage that comes with sex and/or pregnancy.
Lord, I pray for modesty or both boys and girls. Modesty in the way that they dress and the way that they act.
Lord, today I pray that any teen who is in a situation of addiction - theirs or a loved ones will reach out to someone who can help. May today be the day that they speak up to get the help that they need.
I pray for for every parent. May they remember that these teens are a GIFT from You. May they remember that every moment is a treasure. Remind us all Lord, that childhood is fleeting and that we, as parents need to make every second count.
I pray for every teacher and school administrator. Lord, our views are all the same in what we feel is "okay" or "acceptable" for our kids. Make their decisions good. Please put your hand on their shoulder and give them a nudge in the right direction so that our children are not exposed to damaging experiences.
Lord I pray that you would keep every teen safe from drugs today.
I pray that you give every child a trusted adult to speak with - if not a parent, than a teacher, a neighbor, a pastor, a friend - someone who can help them in time of need.
I pray for each coach who will come in contact with a teenager today. Please give them positive words of encouragement, show them how to teach the kids to compete kindly.
Lord I pray for respect. May each teenager be taught respect and be shown respect from people who matter to them.
Lord I pray for compassionate hearts. Children are born with compassionate spirits, please Lord protect those spirits and show all of us how to protect them as well.
Lord, I pray that you direct every teenagers move today and that you protect them and guide them through the day. Be with every adult that will come into contact with them and help us to guide them down the right path.
In Your Name,
Amen
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." Matthew 18:20
February is the month of Love. There is no love like the love of a parent for their children. As a mom, I can tell you - there is nothing that I would not do for my son... my love for him is limitless. I pray for him daily. But the other day, God called me out... He called it to my attention that I've failed to pray for my son's environment... his friends, his classmates, his teachers, his coaches, etc. Wow! How shortsighted have I been?
So... this month I am challenging myself to pray for Teens everywhere. I'm praying for everyone that they come in contact with. Will you join me? Will you commit to one month of praying daily for our Teens? Ready? Set? Pray!
